| Toast-Egg
Sandwich |
Crispy
starters that is easy to manage.
Ingredients
Two slices of bread
Sandwich spread/mayonnaise
One Egg
Salt and pepper
Method
Toast the bread slices till slightly brown (make sure they don't become
hard)
Coat the bread slices with mayonnaise.
Fry the egg adding salt and pepper.
Place between the two slices and enjoy!

Noodles |
Ready-made noodles
are available in all leading grocery stores. Most of them require
two to three minutes of boiling to get done.
Ingredients
1 packet noodles
2 eggs
Salt and pepper
Oregano
Oil
Method
Boil one packet of noodles (without adding the masala) and strain
Beat two eggs adding salt and pepper
Heat some oil in a skillet and add the egg and fry till golden. Take
out and cut into small pieces.
Put 2 tsp oil in the skillet and pour the noodles into it.
Add the eggs and the noodles masala and stir well.
Take out and serve garnished with oregano. |

Potatoes |
Spicy,
crispy starters that are tasty. Weight watchers are warned to stay
away.
Ingredients
500 g potatoes
100 g flour
1/4 tsp five-spice powder
5 tsp salt, or to taste
1/2 tsp ginger, chopped
2 cups (500 ml) vegetable oil for deep-frying
1/4 tsp spiced pepper-salt
1/4 tsp MSG
Method
Wash and boil the potatoes, then peel and mash them.
Mix well with the flour, five-spice powder, salt, MSG, and ginger.
Form into small balls.
Heat the oil in wok to moderately hot, 230F (110C). Add the potato
balls a few at a time and fry until brown.
Remove, drain and sprinkle with spiced pepper-salt. |
| Aaloo-Paneer
Tikkis |
Crisp snacks served
with steaming tea. Perfect for winter evenings.
Ingredients
5 potatoes
300 gm mashed paneer (cottage cheese)
3/4 cup boiled peas
3/4 tsp pepper
Salt to taste
Chopped green chilies
Oil/ ghee for frying
Method
Boil and mash the potatoes.
Add salt to taste and pepper powder.
To the mashed potatoes, add paneer, green chilies, and peas. Mix all
ingredients well.
Divide the mixture into small portions. Make round tikkis out of them.
Fry the tikkis in the ghee/oil till they turn light brown.
Serve hot with ketchup. |

A quick and simple
no fuss sweet dish. Great for the festive season
Ingredients
2ltrs Milk
200 gm Sugar
2 tbsp Almonds
2 tbsp Raisins
1 tsp Cardamom Powder
Method
Boil milk on low heat till thick.
Add sugar and simmer till the sugar dissolves completely.
Take it off the fire and cool.
Garnish with blanched/ sliced almonds, raisins and cardamom powder.
Chill and serve. |
